Wildwood & Plant City Divisions Receive the NAPA Quality in Construction Award

CWR Contracting, Inc., a Construction Partners, Inc. operating company, was awarded the 2021 Quality in Construction Award for excellence in construction of asphalt pavement during the National Asphalt Pavement Association's 67th Annual Meeting.

CWR was awarded for its quality work and performance on its SR 44 contract with the FDOT, District 5, and its SR 570 contract with the FDOT, Turnpike Enterprise. The improvements under the SR 44 contract included reconstruction and widening of the eastbound lanes of SR 44 from east of CR 219 to east of Walker Road. Our paving operations placed a 1.5-inch hot-mix asphalt overlay on the road and produced a smooth ride for the traveling motorist. The SR 570 contract included milling and resurfacing of eight miles along the Polk Parkway. This contract was the first pilot project completed utilizing 3D model delivery and automated machine guidance (robotic profile milling and paving).

"This was a challenging contract as it was the first automated machine guidance pilot project released by the FDOT, Turnpike Enterprise. However, our company accepted the challenge and embraced the new technology. In doing so, our teams rose to the occasion and delivered an awesome ride."
