BuildHER Florida Gives Students a Closer Look at Careers in Construction

CWR Contracting was proud to host BuildHER Florida, a two-day camp that introduced high school students to the asphalt and construction industry.

Throughout the camp, students had the opportunity to see that construction is much more than what happens on a jobsite. They learned about the many people and career paths that keep the industry moving, including construction operations, asphalt production, quality control, accounting, contract administration, human resources, marketing, and more.

Students also heard directly from women across CWR Contracting and the asphalt industry. They shared real experiences, answered questions, and talked about what their careers look like day to day.

The camp wrapped up with a visit to one of CWR’s asphalt plants, where students learned how asphalt is produced, tested, and used to help build the roads we rely on every day.

CWR was honored to welcome FDOT Chief Engineer of Production Jennifer Marshall, P.E., and Senator Corey Simon, who spent time with students and supported the importance of introducing young people to opportunities in construction.
