CWR Contracting, Inc. (CWR) Plant City team was awarded the Quality in Construction Award for its US 98 & Tribly Road Roundabout contract located in Pasco County, Florida.
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) selected and submitted this project to The National Asphalt Pavement Association for recognition of excellence within asphalt pavements.
This particular project stands out because it’s the first built roundabout for the FDOT (District 7), the recent development has drastically improved the traffic volume and safety for the motoring public, and CWR surpassed all expectations by swiftly and successfully completing the contract in 114 days.
“I am thrilled that the team’s expertise and effort in both managing and executing the project are being recognized” said Stuart Savoy, company vice president. “This was a very time sensitive job. Our teams worked closely with FDOT and we proposed a reconstruction of the maintenance traffic plan; in order to allow us to expedite the construction schedule and complete the project on time. The revised traffic plan was approved and CWR couldn’t effectively complete this contract without the help of the engineers and staff at the Florida Department of Transportation”.
Construction under this contract also included clearing and grubbing, stabilization, base widening, drainage improvements (increase of water storage due to the raised elevation of the intersection and deeper ditches along the edge of the pavement), pavement marking, highway lighting, and landscaping.
