CWR Contracting has embarked on an innovative journey by constructing a 4-mile multi-use path featuring bioluminescent technology in Okaloosa County—the first of its kind in Florida. This pioneering pathway will connect Brooks Bridge and Marler Bridge, providing users with a unique and safe experience that literally lights the way.
Public Works Director Jason Autrey offered insights into the cutting-edge technology being utilized: “It’s really a glow-in-the-dark rock. They’ll put the asphalt down, throw this rock on top, spread it out, and when they roll it, it embeds in the top.” This bioluminescent feature promises to enhance nighttime visibility, ensure safety, and add a touch of magic to evening strolls and bike rides.
The construction of this path involves extensive work within the existing right-of-way. Our dedicated team is undertaking tasks such as clearing, drainage improvements, earthwork, grading, asphalt paving, seeding, and sodding. This comprehensive approach ensures the creation of a stunning pathway and the enhancement of the surrounding infrastructure.
We are honored to enhance this section of Highway 98, which will positively impact commuters and recreational users. This project exemplifies our commitment to innovation and community improvement, providing a state-of-the-art amenity that will be enjoyed by residents and visitors alike.
This groundbreaking project underscores the significance of forward-thinking infrastructure developments and their role in community well-being. As we continue to pave the way for more such innovations, we thank the community for their support and look forward to seeing you on the glowing path soon. Stay tuned for more updates as we bring this bright vision to life.
